With the increasing trend of being connected through many devices, people have a lot of options to access accounts and applications from anywhere. Azure AD provides solutions to protect and manage both user and company digital identities.

Microsoft’s Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) is a cloud based directory and identity management service. It combines core directory services, advanced identity governance and access management to applications.

Increase productivity and reduce helpdesk costs with self-service and single sign-on experiences. Raise your employees’ productivity across multiple services and devices, using a single identity. Strengthen security and make everything simpler, with a single user name and password per user.

Self-service

For you as an employee this means no more unnecessary waiting. Save time by performing self-service tasks like resetting a forgotten password or requesting access to an application without waiting for assistance from the helpdesk.

Single sign-on

In the office, at home or on the road, and no matter what device; your employees can effortlessly access all the applications and services they need, using a single username and password.

Azure AD helps protect access to applications and resources across the corporate datacenter and into the cloud. It provides additional levels of validation with multi-factor authentication and conditional access policies.

Multi-factor authentication

This is an access method that requires more than one verification – your password alone won’t get you in! This adds a second layer of security to the sign in. Azure multi-factor authentication (MFA) gives a range of verification methods – including call, text or mobile app.

Conditional access

Application access management means that only the right people can access the applications. “The right people” might vary depending on the company’s rules and policies – type of network, level of validation etc. You can enforce controls on the access to applications according to the user’s specific access conditions. You can tie additional requirements to the access process or block it completely.

In addition, Azure AD enables monitoring of suspicious activity through advanced security reporting, inspecting and alerting that helps discover potential security issues and prevent attacks.

Let’s imagine a scenario in which Azure AD alerts you about suspicious activity. Your employee is visiting a business partner in London. He signs into his account and accesses some business applications. Just minutes later, someone tries to sign into the same account, from a completely different part of the world. The Azure AD security system can immediately register this inconsistency, block access to your company data, and report the incident to you.
